Constipation is the number one gastrointestinal problem in the United States and it is not a surprise considering the Standard American Diet (SAD).

The core diet of Americans is crammed with over processed foods that have been stripped of nearly all of its healthy features and transformed into fiber lacking chemically altered foods.

The foods that many in our nation ingest every day (i.e. fast food super sized cheeseburgers, fries and milkshakes, carbonated sugar laden soda pops, hydrogenated potato chips and mostly sugar breakfast cereals, etc.) hardly resemble the original form of the natural food due to the processing that strips the foods of their nutrients, vitamins and healthy fiber.

The majority of chronic constipation problems are usually due to poor nutrition and lifestyle habits. Although there are sometime other reasons for constipation and those can be identified by your physician.

If you are experiencing symptoms of constipation (i.e., having a bowel movement fewer than three times per week and the stools are typically hard, dry, small in size, and difficult to eliminate) you need to listen to your body and take action to find a solution for your constipation. Ignoring your constipation could lead to increased pain and discomfort and even a more serious illness.

If you are struggling with constipation, first you want to do a self check and see if you need to adjust your diet and lifestyle to get relief from most of the pain and discomfort you are experiencing.

Some constipation fast remedies that you can use to get yourself back on track are:

-drink lots of liquids like water and natural juices (avoid caffeine, soda and alcohol),

-get some regular exercise every day,

-eat more fiber filled natural foods like fruits, vegetables and whole grains,

-you can take chemically laden laxatives but I NEVER recommend them - they are too unhealthy

-use a natural oxygen based colon cleanser - my favorite is Oxy Powder - this constipation remedy works very fast

-and remember drink more water - I know I mentioned it twice but it is so important to hydrate yourself every day to keep yourself healthy and remove toxins from your body.

Constipation should never be ignored, because when the body is not functioning correctly it is trying to tell you to make changes.

So listen to your body! And help your body return to healthy bowel function.
